The Washington State Women's Open is a championship conducted by Omar Sports

This event was started in 2000 when Todd Patch and Ben Ebbesen ( Thriftway President ) got together and determined that we would start a Washington Open for Women. The first event was played in 2001, and we have played nine championships, all at Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club in Federal Way, Washington. Erin Szekely has been our Tournament Director since the start, and has made many contributions to the success of the event.

This event has been popular with the players, and they have come from all over the world; Canada, Scotland, Russia, New Zealand, Wales, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Zimbabwe, and France. Two of our past champions, Lindsey Wright, and Russamee Gulyanamitta, are now playing on the LPGA Tour.

Jennifer Wyatt is the 2009 champion. She won with a tournament record of 139, 5 under par. This is the second year in a row that a former LPGA Tour player won this event. Last year's champion was Nancy Harvey. Former LPGA Tour winners that have played/play are Nancy Harvey, Tina Tombs, Gail Graham, and Lenore Rittenhouse.

The Futures Tour is represented, as well as the " Big Break " golf show, with several contestants.
